Falling for Fall

Don’t get me wrong- I love summer. I am as much a watermelon, beach trip, sunglasses fanatic as the next person.  But here’s the thing, summer with all its sweet ripeness has a tendency to get a bit stale rather quickly for me.  Autumn is the much more reliable season.

Let’s get my first- gasp- controversial opinion out of the way: I love the bustling activity that the school year heralds. As the type of person that is go-go-go, my best friend is a school schedule that is similarly go-go-go. Picture this: a day filled with club meetings, seeing my friends and teachers at school, hours of learning, homework, basketball open gyms, flag-football practices, writing poetry, reading, sports games, gym runs, and a morning and night routine that would put lifestyle Titkokers to shame. That, my friends, is my idea of a perfect day. I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m the type of girl whose hunger for experiences and learning can only be satisfied by a busy schedule. Plus, it helps that I compete with myself to see how many boxes I can cross off my checklist.

Moving past the personal preferences for a moment, let’s talk about undisputed charms: the leaves, the pumpkins, and the all-around cozy vibes. There’s an undeniable pleasure in watching those golden leaves gracefully make their descent to the ground, painting the world in warm hues. An afternoon stroll becomes infinitely more fulfilling when admiring the neighbors Halloween decorations, a display impressive enough to rival a Macy’s window at Christmas-time. And as someone who reluctantly admits she doesn’t own a single piece of flannel, the combination of sweaters and Uggs is an unparalleled matchup. There’s just something about fall that beckons me to snuggle up with a tall glass of peppermint tea and lose myself in the pages of a good book. As the days get shorter and the air turns crisper, I find myself falling in love with fall all over again.
